YOMT Youth Testimonies

For me, being part of a missional youth group/church is to work with others to spread and express the love that we share with Jesus to others. I'm reading "The Shack" right now, and it talks about how humans are independent from God and that it causes a lot of suffering. When you're part of a group, you're giving up your independence, and becoming dependent on others and God. It's simply forming relationships with others by working with and helping them. God loves all his children, so we are continuing that love, and like it says in your message, it's actively seeking, not just sitting around. It's fun!!!!
~Kirkland Broadwell

Being a missional youth means that I am helping to make God's kingdom the best it can be while growing in my faith and building relationships with others.
~Heather Rocholl

Being in a Missional Youth group is really important to me. It gives me the opportunity to get involved as well as gives me the skills and learning experiences so that I can help out on my own time too. I've learned that giving back can be fun and I think that it's conception of it being hard and boring that turns people away, but it really is the simplest things that make the difference.
I've recently taken on a very large service project. I don't know that I would have felt comfortable doing that if I didn't know that it was the right thing to do and knowing that I would enjoy doing. It's also a big plus that everyone at church supports people who take on missions in all ways.
It's also a big plus for any teenager in National Honor Society or Key Club because we never have to scramble for hours like everyone else does.
~Maren Helfrich

Being a part of a missional youth group is nice. I mean with everything that goes on in the world these days, its nice to be able to have a place and some people that you can just chill out with and not have to worry about those temptations. Their pretty much like a second family to you, they'll always be there and will listen and pray for you when you need them to. I know that if I'm having a bad week i can just come to Wednesday nights and be able to forget those things and just focus on God for awhile. Because I'm not going to lie it is hard to be thinking about him 24/7. There is so many other things out there that push you away from him and coming to youth group kinda helps you to come back and be able to invite your friends.
~Rachel Broadwell

Being a missional church means: to come together with other believers to work for Christ and make a difference in the community and the world.
~Matt Yelverton

I think it means we're not alone at all this. We can make a difference. Or at least a dent. I think we all know God's not going to come out of the sky and solve all our problems. (Although I reckon that would be pretty darn amazing!) They say faith makes all things possible so that's what we're doing. Or at least what we're trying to do.....
~Rhody Mastin

Being a part of a missional youth group has made me the person I am today. Constant opportunities to serve have led me to realize that it doesn't matter who you are, or how old you are, you can always find ways to improve the lives of others. I have watched members of my church have huge impacts on my community and I have learned that through faith, love, and hard work amazing things can happen.

I think that my life would be very different if I did not belong to Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Service has become a part of who I am instead of just something I do. Once I truly got involved in the lives of people in need, the small things in my life that I used to stress about no longer seemed all that important. I think that as long as I trust in God and love others, everything in my life will turn out for the best.
